1938
Pontiac Coupe |
John Albano willingly talks of his trek to
restore this magnificent inferno red 1938 Pontiac Coupe. The body was, in many instances;
hand molded by John himself. He made each body panel by hand, including the grill, side
panel running board, and hood centerpiece, bumper brackets and floor. The body is all one
piece. John molded the fender over VW fenders and modified VW taillights for the car.
This 1938 Pontiac has a 305 motor, 350 transmission, 1968 Buick rear end and Camaro front
end. It has disc front brakes, drum rear and ride on 15X8 American Racing Tires 245-60-15.
The interior is gray velour.
John has owned this dignified street rod since 1997. He spent from January of 97 to
September 1998 on a continuous restoration mission. The trek is not over says John.
Restoration is an ongoing process. This street rod is a real showpiece and to car shows is
just where John and daughter Lucy, bring it. He likes working on cars just as his Dad did
before him. John built racecars in the 50s and 60s. That car smell, that car
feel, the grease, the parts and the challenge to bring back a little history is in John
Albanos blood to stay. |
