1932
Ford 3-Window Coupe Street Rod |
Rick Tenan, from Avon, Connecticut, restored
this black and gold 1932 Ford beauty. It arrived in his driveway in August of 2001 as a
body and chassis only. He rebuilt and modified everything from the bumper to the
taillights and did all the bodywork himself, in his own garage. Of course, Rick is an auto
body technician at heart.
This Street Rod has a 350 Chevy, 671 blower, all roller rockers, flat top pistons, 10
overdriven and AC. The transmission is a 350 reverse shift pattern, front end is strait
axle with a 57 Oldsmobile rear end with spool, brakes are Wildwood, tires are Hoosier, Rad
wheels and a galvanized exhaust with shortie headers.
You would have to meet and talk with Rick to learn everything about this Rod. It
originally had a 69 Camaro (pro street) in it, which was sold to a buyer in California.
Rick kept the 32-coupe motor and transmission. He designed the front v-bar, had it milled
for lights to match the lights in the back. The Cadillac brake lights are specially
mounted underneath the rear of car. What does all this take to get done? Says his wife,
Bridget Clancy, start to finish, every night all winter. Is he done? He has been
interested in Street Rods forever and is presently working with a friend on a 1941 Willy's
Coupe.
Rick and wife Bridget enjoy Street Rod Shows, Rod Runs and especially Mark's Cruise
Nights. Rick and Bridget are a team and the most exciting award they have won was
"The Most Outstanding Use of Paint" awarded by PPG at York, PA. They represent
PPG at various shows including Rhinebeck, NY.
Rick's talent does not stop with Street Rods, that is his winter interest. Hang gliding is
his #1 love. He is also a ham radio operator and a nice guy too.

1971
Chevrolet Street Rod |
This statuesque 1971 Sunflower yellow Chevrolet is and has always been a one-man vehicle.
Alan Blount bought this car new and the 189500 miles on it, is mileage driven by him
alone. Though a tired 71 Chevrolet did sit in a barn, unused, for a for a short time, Alan
always had a special fondness for the car and a strong desire to renew its' life. With
more than just a nudge from his loving wife, Joanne, Alan restored the vehicle, to an
exact original, in an 8 month period.
The car has a 350 cu. inch motor, hydromatic transmission and stock, stock, stock new
everything. The top is black vinyl (new but stock original). The interior was done by
Manchester Motor Cars and is stock original with black cloth seats.
Alan proudly drives the car to cruise nights and enters it in car shows. This is much
different than the role this car played in its previous life. Alan bought it while dating
his wife and they drove off on their honeymoon in the Sunflower Chevrolet. For a period of
time, they owned a tent trailer and the sunflower Chevrolet, adorned with a trailer hitch,
pulled the camper over hill and dale in search of adventure and relaxation. Alan, his wife
Joanne and Mother-in-law Anna simply enjoy the fruits of Alan's restoration. The Sunflower
Chevrolet is a " peach" of a Street Rod.
