2006 Spring Sizzler

Stafford Motor Speedway’s 2006 Tech-Net Spring Sizzler, presented by Car Quest, took place April 29, 30 and May 1, 2006. Summer-like temperatures and warm winds accommodated the Sizzler’s entire weekend, 7 feature, 3-day event.

Chris Matthews #29 in the SK Light Modified event, Bill Davis #31 in the Limited Late Model feature and Tom Stirk #60 in Dare Stock took down Saturday features.

Stafford invited race fans to a, meet and greet, on the track 11AM Sunday morning. Fans had the uncommon opportunity to view racecars up close, meet the drivers and crews and get signed hero cards of favorite teams and drivers. The Enfield buzzed with activity as spirits rose.

The Stafford SK Modifieds led Sundays featured events with defending Champion, Ted Christopher in his famous #13 raced to a checkered flag win. NEMA (North East Midget Association) entertained the crowds as Ben Seitz #17 took down the second feature win of the day. Excitement grew as Whelans Modified Tour lined up for a 200-lap feature, next on the agenda. Doug Colby of Milford, Connecticut, raced to his first career Nascar Whelen Modified victory after leading for 62 grueling laps holding off Bud Pole Award Winner Donny Lia in the #18.

Finale of the day was an exciting Late Model feature. The Busch-like racecars exited turn one, four abreast. Competition continued throughout the race with an ecstatic Woody Pitkat in the Davidson #48 leading at the checkered flag win. Much to the pleasure of race fans, Pitkat left victory lane and climbed the fence at Start/Finish line, waving to the crowd, ending the 35th Sizzler at Stafford Motor Speedway.
