Andy Santerre Honored As NEAR
Driver of the Year

East Windsor, CT (January 31, 2005): The New England Auto Racers honored Andy Santerre as the New England Driver of the Year at the eighth annual Induction Banquet at the LaRenaissance Banquet Hall in East Windsor, CT last weekend. Santerre is the first driver in the history of the club to receive the tribute.

“It is such an honor to have the pioneers of this sport recognize my accomplishments,” Santerre said. “I’ve been fortunate enough to win a lot of awards over the years, but this one is, by far, one of my most coveted.”

Santerre clinched his third straight Busch North Series crown last year by nearly 200 points. His impressive record of five wins, nine top-five, and 12 top-10 finishes separated him from the competition, and earned him a place in the record books. Santerre is only the second driver in the 18-year-history of the series to accomplish three consecutive Championships.

More recently, Santerre announced his addition to the GRIZCO Race Team, which fields the No. 55 Burnham Boilers Chevrolet’s for driver Mike Stefanik and Irving Oil/Mainway Chevrolet’s for Brad Leighton. Santerre will serve as team manager with the possibility of driving a third car for the team.
