Johnny Lobo is a
second-generation racecar driver. His Dad, John Lobo Sr, raced for 30 plus years and
Johnny grew up in a garage with racecars. Johnny, himself, has been racing for 21 years.
He races once a week. His favorite track is Stafford Speedway.
Race history and experience runs deep in Johnny Lobo. He has raced in the Modified
Division, Pro Stock Division where he was Rookie of The Year and 2nd and 3rd in points,
Late Model Division where he won 2 Championships, and Strictly Stock Division where he won
1 Championship. Johnny is quite familiar with many tracks having raced at Stafford,
Riverside Park, Monadnock and Westboro Speedways.
Johnnys most memorable races were the Riverside Park Speedway 500 Team Races in 1996
and 97. He was teamed with Ed Kennedy in 96 and won then came back in 97 teamed up with
Doug Meservy and won a second time. John Lobo Sr is owner and Crew Chief of the red SK
Modified car #30. John Jr., John III, Bill, Tony, Hoss, Alan, Marie, Sophy, Mike, Jeff,
Heath, Sue, Brit, Carol, and Fran make up the team. The car is garaged in Southampton,
Mass.
Enjoyment of the competition and the speed is why Johnny races. He also likes the family
atmosphere both at the track and in the garage. He and his wife, Gail, have an 18-year-old
son, John. Johnny is an electrician by trade and is employed at Western Mass. Hospital. He
enjoys golfing and paintball.
The one thing that Johnny would like to see change in the race industry is to make it more
cost effective. |
