Dan Sullivan has long
since out distanced the demolitions races and figure 8s he raced in at Riverside
Park Speedway. In 1981 Dan filled-in for a friend with an Enduro Racecar that
was ready to race with no driver to race it. From then forward, he was hooked and when
owner, Scott Fearn, lost his driver Dan was there to take over.
Quite a guy, this gum chewing Dan Sullivan and his #6 Strictly Stock racecar. He races
once a week at Monadnock Speedway. His crew Cookie, RZ, Motorcycle Bob, Sponge Bob, Mikie
and Tex do all the maintenance not allowing Dan into their space. The racecar is garaged
at Cookies home in Wilbraham, Mass.
Dans most challenging race was at Thompson Speedway 2 years ago. It was in an Outlaw
Race and the 1st and 2nd place cars hit each other making way for Dan to stake claim to
second place for the second year in a row. His goal for the 2003 season is a Championship
at Monadnock Speedway
The ultimate goal for Dan is to have fun racing. He likes the guys at the track and enjoys
the competition of the race. Being that Dan is a guys guy, racing gives him
something in common with his race friends. Dan speaks sadly of the untimely death of Dale
Earnhart SR and if he could change one thing in the history of racing it would be that.
Professionally, Dan is an Airforce Loadmaster for C5 Cargo Planes stationed at Westover
Airforce Base. Early in the 2003 season, a group of his recently returned military buddies
were in attendance at Monadnock when Dan won a feature race. The group joined him in
Victory Lane.
Dan resides in Chicopee, Mass. He has 3 daughters. Twins Courtney and Nicole, and daughter
Shawnee. He is an electrician by trade. Dan also collects Dale Earnhart cards as a hobby.
