What is commonplace for a 7th grade boy to do with free time in good weather?

For 12-year old Jeffrey Gallup, that time is well spent at a racetrack in or around his #6 Outlaw Go Kart.

Young Jeff Gallup is the product of a racing family. His Dad, Richie, raced Modifieds. You may still find Richie behind the wheel of a racecar, should the occasion arise. The family commitment nowadays, is directed towards young Jeffrey and the development of his racing interests.

Jeffrey has had some challenges already. Once during the 2005 season he missed a heat due to a broken spindle and couldn’t qualify for the race. He’s also had some highs, such as the race in August when his starting position was 2nd to last and he finished just behind the winner, in 2nd Place.

Racing is a first love for Jeffrey not forgetting basketball, baseball and his dog Jersey.

The #33 Silver Supermodified is a hot racecar with a hot driver on the ISMA racing series. Joe Petro Jr learned from the best, his Dad Joe Sr. They even ran together for a time.

Joe Jr. races twelve to 18 races a season at ten to fourteen different tracks each season. He likes Thompson Speedway because, it is fast.

Last season, 2005, proved to be good for Joe Petro. He began the season with a new car, definitely a “Top 10” he said. Joe was right. He finished the 2005 tour ninth in points, 3rd in the New England Region Top Ten and 10th in the Midwest/Canada Region Top Ten.

Hats off to Joe Petro, a Supermod racer to watch in 2006.

Brian Hoar, #45 Busch East Series, recalls memories of his very first race ever. It was at Watkins Glenn. The challenge was to fiqure out the shifting…and the braking…. and turning points, as well. It was all a challenge but the young man has learned well.

Early on, Brian raced on the ACT Tour for eleven seasons, winning 5 tour championships and two track championships at Airborne Raceway and Thunder Road Speed Bowl.

He has made great strides with the Busch Touring Series in the last five seasons being awarded “Rookie of the Year” in 2001. Brian excelled in the 2005 season with 12 starts, four top 5’s and 5 top 10’s. His racing skills are exemplary.
