Monadnock Speedway in Winchester New Hampshire has a lot to offer for the beginner racer, the experience racer, the competitive racer and the female racer. It is a fast quarter mile track with shared compassion amongst the teams there. Beth Adams is in her second season racing at Monadnock. In the 2004 season, Beth raced 4 cylinder Enduros, finishing the season nineteenth in points. At eighteen years old Beth started the 2005 season still a high school student. She is a positive, aggressive driver strongly influenced by her Dad’s and Granddad’s and Great-Granddad’s racing experience.

Beth’s most difficult race, thus far, was her first Mini Stock race this season. It was the front-wheel drive that she had to adjust to. The most difficult thing to overcome in racing is crashing and not finishing a race. Her goal is to finish every race.

Mini Stock has been a good move for Beth. She can keep up to any of the male racers and pass by many of them though her being a female doesn’t seem to enter into the factor.

Beth is a good driver. She has had a top 5 and a top 10 finish, so far, this season. Beth is a driver on the move and a driver to watch in the future.

Chris Matthews
Late Model #29

Auto Technician Chris Matthews spends his non-working hours racing #20 in the Late Model Division at Stafford Motor Speedway. Chris currently hovers just out of the top ten for points but is on the move upward. Tough competition at the Stafford track and some really good teams are a big part of the challenge.

Matthews raced Super Stock for two seasons at the former Riverside Park Speedway track in Agawam Mass. He finished 3rd in points his final season there and was voted “Most Improved Driver.” On July 30th in the 2004 season Marc won his first Late Model feature race.

Per Marc, " It was hard to keep focused I was so excited.”

That is the positive excitement Marc carries with him. The 2005 season looks positive with some good finishes for the #29 at mid-season.

Marc Palmisano
Late Model #03

Love of speed is why ironworker Marc Palmisano, races. The fast track at Thompson International Speedway is what brings this Hadley Mass resident to Connecticut where Marc is a very competitive driver in the Late Model Division. Winning and consistent top five finishes, keep Marc coming back each week.

Marc has climbed the division ladder over the last 15 years racing, spending seven years in Mini and Full-Size Enduros, winning Championships in each. He was voted “Rookie of The Year” during his three year stint in Strictly Stock and again in Late Models at both Thompson and Monadnock Speedways.

The 2005 season for Marc and his #03 Late Model team is clearly a success story in the making. At this writing, Marc is second in the point standings having won the July 07 TNTT event. Marc will continue to “Mash the Gas” in the direction of victory lane.

Camaraderie runs high at New Hampshire’s Monadnock Speedway and was an important factor for a successful transition into the racing scene for driver John Hall #21 Strictly Stock. Because John was not the product of a racing family, the willingness of competing teams to help-out the #21was a benefit he was surprised by. Their knowledge and advice has made him a much stronger driver.

In his first season of racing, John is currently 18th in points. He experienced his first into-the-wall crash on Saturday July 23, coming out of turn two. Unhurt, his thoughts quickly turned to “getting the #21 ready for the next race”. Can he do it? He has to do it. August was off to a good start when John raced to a 5th place finish on the 6th and led 14 laps in a 30 lap race on August 13th.John raced hard to a 4th place finish on August 20, not quite in victory lane but getting closer. It is quite apparent that John’s racing skills are improving each week.

He attributes much of that to his Dad and the good advice from fellow competitors such as Dan Fredericks.

A couple years back, John was a spectator at a Monadnock race night. The racing bug bit him though it took John awhile to announce to his Dad (Tom) that he wanted to race. Dad’s comment was “What took you so long.”

They chose the Strictly Stock because it was a division that was both competitive and affordable. It took them the winter to put #21 together and as John admits that it takes a lot of desire to race every week.

From Colrain Mass, John has always been a big race fan and now this construction worker is a race driver, in for the long run….maybe the “Cup” or the “Busch.”
