“The Alligator”, a restored vintage racing coupe, was originally built in 1952 in Pelham, New Hampshire. The original owner painted an alligator on it so Lloyd Hutchins, its present owner, carried on the tradition as with its original #176. Lloyd even has the car’s original water can with the #176 on it.

Lloyd races his coupe on the Senior Tour Auto Racing better known as “STAR.” He specifically recalls a race at Claremont when he rounded the track side by side against Tim Houston in the #01. It was a good race because their racing was pretty equal. Lloyd likes all short track racing but particularly enjoys Monadnock because of it banks.

Hardly new to racing, Lloyd brings with him a lot of history. He raced coupes in the early 60’s at Thunder Road and Northeastern Speedway, during which time he built his own cars. This 68 year old racer from Barre Vermont helped to build Thunder Road Race Track and now restores many of the old race cars that raced at that track, way back when.

A love for automobiles, the excitement of racing and the support of his wife of almost 40 years is what keeps Lloyd active and behind the wheel of a racecar.

“Cars & Stars of Yesteryear” is the slogan for Senior Track Auto Racing tour (better known as STAR). David Scott and his wife of 40 years, Peggy, travel tour with their #5 restored antique modified. It has a neat royal blue body with yellow and red numbering. Their car hauler is quite interesting too. It is a 1946 black Ford pick up truck.

David, a bit hard of hearing at age 72, loves racing and claims it keeps him moving. That it does, for David has raced to first place for six years. With the support of his wife , David raced Class A (Coupe) from 1951 until 1971, took a break to raise a family and returned to race with NEAR in 1991 and STAR in 1999. Peggy only missed 2 races in all of those years.

No one short track is favorite to David. He loves them all. David helped to build Star Speedway and then raced Modifieds on it and Beech Ridge Maine. He still fears “the crash” and clearly recalls when he hit the wall coming out of turn four at Riverside Groveton New Hampshire.

A construction worker out of Barrington New Hampshire, David looks forward to his future seasons on the track and to continuing the friendships that have developed during his racing career.
