The
Alligator, a restored vintage racing coupe, was originally built in 1952 in Pelham,
New Hampshire. The original owner painted an alligator on it so Lloyd Hutchins, its
present owner, carried on the tradition as with its original #176. Lloyd even has the
cars original water can with the #176 on it.
Lloyd races his coupe on the Senior Tour Auto Racing better known as STAR. He
specifically recalls a race at Claremont when he rounded the track side by side against
Tim Houston in the #01. It was a good race because their racing was pretty equal. Lloyd
likes all short track racing but particularly enjoys Monadnock because of it banks.
Hardly new to racing, Lloyd brings with him a lot of history. He raced coupes in the early
60s at Thunder Road and Northeastern Speedway, during which time he built his own
cars. This 68 year old racer from Barre Vermont helped to build Thunder Road Race Track
and now restores many of the old race cars that raced at that track, way back when.
A love for automobiles, the excitement of racing and the support of his wife of almost 40
years is what keeps Lloyd active and behind the wheel of a racecar. |
