Not all #8’s in auto racing relate to “The Cup” #8 of Dale Earnhart Jr. At Waterford Speedbowl the #8 Mini Stock relates to Bill Leonard, a 5-season veteran of the Mini Stock Division. Bill also races at Thompson and lee USA Speedways.

There is a lot to like about Bill Leonard. He works hard at racing, finishing with several top 5’s in the 2004 season. His presence emits enthusiasm for the sport of racing.

Says Bill “It is the one place I can speed legally.” He wouldn’t change anything in the racing industry.

The Mini Stock Division is especially competitive at Monadnock Speedway in New Hampshire. This high-banked quarter mile track is fast, laced with talented race teams and a challenge to both new and seasoned drivers. Kevin Russell is somewhere between new and seasoned with 6 years racing experience and talented. Kevin races #81 in the Mini-Stock Division. T

he 2004 season was good for Kevin, often starting in the rear of a line-up of 24 or so. In August 04 he started one race in 16th and finished 2nd. He moves well through traffic and is successful at holding off other drivers.

Kevin crews his own racecar along with his Dad (Bill Russell) wife Dawn and sister Billie Jo. He races because it is fun. He also enjoys softball and golf and more importantly his family.

Patti Gonyea got her start in racing at a dirt track. At age 39, Patti has been racing in the Mini-Stock Division at Thompson Speedway for 3 seasons. Patti is hooked on racing, out there to accept the challenge of each race. It is the rewards of competition that keeps her behind the wheel on the track.

A Burrillville, Rhode Island resident,  Patti is a bar owner professionally and enjoys physical fitness for pleasure.
