4 cylinder Enduros are quite the experience to watch. The Enduros, both
4 and 8cylinder, are fast moving, action filled, and non-stop entertainment. Excitement is
high throughout the race. Ray Laroche races royal blue car#84 in the Enduro 4-cylinder
division. With his redhead young son by his side (confidently praising hid Dad) Ray is
sure he has the racecar to make victory lane. It is good family fun and makes him the
coolest Dad around.
Racing is an addiction. Ray came to the track as a spectator and got The Urge.
He raced in the Mini Stock division before moving onto Enduros. He has placed both in the
top 5 and the top 10 but on his limited budget he has been unable to place first. This may
be the season.
Rays most challenging race was at Stafford Speedway when he had a difficult time
qualifying. He was made to change his tires, add roll bars and borrow a fire suite. He
came in 5th after all that. It was worth it. Ray races at Monadnock Speedway once a week
and spends his nights working on the racecar. The number of hours depends on how much
damage was done in the last race.
Family comes first with Ray. He and his wife Ellen, have three children Nick, Sarah and
Emily. Their son Nick is active in Tiger Scouts. Ray has arranged for Nicks entire
troop to participate in an opening ceremony and to have a pit tour at the track. Ray is a
local racecar driver owning a machine shop, LB Manufacturing, in Southampton, MA. He
resides in Chesterfield.
The one thing that Ray would like to see change in the racing industry is to eliminate
track favorites. Race people are good people and feel equal to each other perhaps on
different levels. |
