Billy Jo Jackman

Mini Stock #27

Wife, Mother, Business Owner, Racecar Driver………Racecar Driver is not really off the beaten path for Billie Jo Jackman, whose Father (William Russell) and Brother (Kevin Russell) both race. Billie Jo is one of the driving factors of this Mini Stock trio, creating the lettering for all 3 racecars out of her “Jackman Signs” business.

In the pits at New Hampshire’s Monadnock Speedway, Billie Jo is often on the crew for her Dad’s or Brother’s Mini Stock teams up to and including sharing her race car with them. Brother Kevin finished 4th in points at Monadnock, often racing Billie Jo’s racecar for those precious points. 2004 was her 4th racing season and at age 30, multi-tasking between her husband and 2 sons, her employment at B&B Auto in Bellows Falls New Hampshire, her sign business and racing, Billie Jo is doing OK. She finished 8th in points for the 2003 season and was voted the “Sportsman Award” by her peers and with a very limited race time at Monadnock in 2004, Billie Jo finished 29th in points.

It doesn’t stop there. In the 2004 race season, Billie Jo also raced at both Twin States Speedway (formerly Claremont Speedway) and Canaan USA Speedway, both New Hampshire tracks.

At Twin States Billie Jo finished 5th in points and strongly believes that had she not missed a few races there, she would have had a shot at winning the Mini Stock Division title this year. Her attitude is great, says Billie Jo “There is next season and I am going for the Championship”. Her record is great with 14 top 5’s and 17 top 10’s beating her brother out in points at Twin States. She was also voted “Rookie of the Year” at Twin States. At Canaan USA, Billie Jo competed in 6 races and finished 3rd in three of them.

Billie Jo’s most challenging race, thus far, was in 2003, her first pole start. She led by a couple car lengths for the first 10 laps not knowing how far ahead she was, Billie Jo raced hard until a mechanical problem took her down.

“I race to have fun. I love to be in a racecar” say Billie Jo. She is still happy whether she finishes 6th or 16th, it doesn’t matter the, thrill is still there. Billie Jo doesn’t race for the trophy but because it is a thrilling experience each and every time she gets in that racecar.
