Rob Janovic, Jr.

Waterford SK Mod #51

The SK Modified division cars are called ground pounders. With over 400 horsepower they create thunder at Waterford Speedbowl. Rob Janovic Jr races open-wheeled SK #51.

A seventeen-year veteran of the race industry, Rob has been in a SK 4 seasons and was voted “Most Improved Driver” in 2002 and in Late Models for 13 years.

Other than every day necessities, Rob wants to race, “There is nothing like it in the world.”

Rob is good at moving up from his starting position. He finished the 2004 season 5th in points with 43 positions gained. With 24 starts, Rob had 2 wins, 10 top 5’s and 16 top 10’s.

Waterford Connecticut id Rob home town. He enjoys boating and spending time with friends and family. He is a Service Manager by profession.

Rick Gentes

Thompson Late Model #70

At age 34, Rick Gentes has already been on the racing scene for 16 years. His current division is Late Model, race team #70, home track Thompson International Speedway. Prior to the 2004 season, Rick had to his credit 2 Late Model Championships and 31 feature wins.

With but one race to go in the 2004 race season, Rick has 2 wins and 13 top tens, finishing 6th in points. Not exactly a championship but a really great racing season.

Rich has 13 years in Late Models and 3 in Street Stock. He is a talented driver. Thompson is his favorite track because it is the biggest and fastest local track. Rick’s’ most memorable race was Ice Breaker 2004. It was wheel-to-wheel racing to the last lap, for the win. Those kind of races stick with you.

He resides in Woonsocket Rhode Island and is self-employed in the construction industry.
