Mini Stock Team for Holmes Garage

Eight Mini Stocks at Waterford Speedbowl

Steve Johnston is owner, driver, crew, father, father-in-law and chief cook and bottle washer to 8 Mini Stocks at Waterford Speedbowl. He races #87 Mini Stock, himself. It is a little “Mini Stock Kingdom” in that area of the pits at the “Bowl.” Steve does not limit himself to the Mini Stock, but splits his time with #8 SK Modified for this season. First race for the SK Modified he started in the rear, 28th, and finished 17th. Experience is the key. Stave had 8 consecutive wins in Mini Stock at Charlotte County Florida. In each he started 32nd.

His love for the sport, his family and friends, is well displayed in the support he gives to Mini Stock #8 Bill Leonard, #28 Ron Fortune, #91 Chris Williams, #64 Tom Smith, #15 Brad James, #3 Randy Johnston and #73 Godbout III (not present in the group picture). This Rhode Island crew is a great example of the strong family and friend sport racing truly is.

Mini Stock #8  – Waterford Speedbowl

In the “Mini Stock Kingdom” at Waterford Speedbowl is #8 driven by Bill Leonard. He is a 5-year race veteran with 3 top 5’s this season alone. For the 2003 season, Bill tied for 10th in points. His favorite track is Waterford though he has raced Enduros at Pointa Gorda Florida and the Mini Stock at Charlotte County Florida, Thompson International Connecticut, and Lee USA Speedway. His father-in-law, Steve Johnston is the driving force of his racing career. Bill loves the sport of racing especially because he can speed legally.

This Woodriver Jct. Rhode Island native races once weekly and is Manager of Holmes Garage professionally. His interests outside of racing are strictly family and children.
