Monadnock Speedway in Winchester New Hampshire is
home to the Barnard Racing team. The team, jointly, has more years of
experience in the racing industry than can be attained in a normal
lifetime. Paul Barnard, at age 36, is owner and driver of Late Model
#94. This is his first season racing with the team at Monadnock having
been a background guy as an owner or crewman. There were periods in his
15 years of racing that he was the driver behind the wheel. Paul raced 3
years in Strictly Stock at Monadnock and 3 years in Late Models at
Riverside Park Speedway. At this writing, Paul has 5 top ten finishes at
Monadnock in his Late Model #94. One of the more memorable races for
Paul was this season when he finished 3rd and his teammates 1st and 2nd.
Paul races for the competition. His goal is to outsmart the other guy.
He tries to learn something every week and to use that knowledge again
and again. Per Paul “There is lots to learn no matter how many years you
drive.”
Even with the multitudinous of knowledge available to each of these
drivers, they are good guys with a great love for the sport of racing.
Thirty-three year old Steve Fifield races Late Model #70 on the Barnard
Racing Team. Though being a good husband and father has top priority for
Steve, he is one good driver. Fun to watch, fast, knows all the right
moves, aggressive when the need arises and a winner. By July 10th this
season, Steve had checker-flagged three features. At this writing, he is
first in points at Monadnock Speedway. This Hatfield Mass resident has
been on the race scene for 14 years, 7 in Street Stock at Lebanon
Valley, 2 in late Models at Riverside Park Speedway and 6 years in Late
Models at Monadnock. He was “Rookie of the Year” at both Lebanon and
Riverside and had 9 wins during the
years of 2001, 02 and 2003 at Monadnock. A Carpenter by Trade he is a
driver to watch on the racetrack.
Andy Breen, Late Model #98 of the Barnard Racing Team is running a close
second place in points at Monadnock. He is a really nice guy with a
great smile and is amazing behind the wheel of his racecar. Racing,
speed and competition is “Fun” for Andy. He won his first Late Model
race 3 seasons ago in the first Late Model race he ran and has continued
to make his mark at Monadnock. Andy spent 5 years in Strictly Stock at
Riverside Park Speedway and 2 years in Strictly Stock at Monadnock with
3 wins before moving to the Late Models. This Hadley Mass resident is a
Body Man by Trade and is a potential Champ on the track.
There is much behind these 3 Barnard Race Team drivers and it is the
“TEAM.” Brian Barnard is owner of Barnard Race Cars. Being a #10 is
being top shelf and the Barnard Racing team numbers 10. There is Brian
Barnard, Frank Barnard, Rod Fifield, Chip Corme, Dave Williams, John
Diggins, Elaine Barnard, Justin Fradette, Brandon Dvitt and Dan Jackman.
They work together in a voluntary joint effort to make the team
successful. That is TEAM. Of course their sponsors play an important
role in the TEAM. Their sponsors are Clark Auto Wrecking, Smithsonian
Neighborhood Grill & Bar, Goodnow’s Chip & Putt, Cherry Hill Golf
Course, The Harp, Rural Computer Solutions, The Collector’s Corner, B&M
Construction, N.E. Merchants Mortgage, Goin Gray Auto and Barnard Race
Cars.
