Mark
and John Lampro Jr. compete in the Full Size Enduro Division at
Monadnock Speedway in New Hampshire. John, from Enfield Connecticut, has
been on the racing scene for five years while brother Mark, from
Springfield Massachusetts, is a newcomer in his second season of racing.
Thirty five-year-old John’s first racing experience was on his 16th
birthday. It was Fathers Day and John Jr. went on the track as team with
his Dad, John Sr. Everyone wanted to put the “Rookie” out to pasture,
but that didn’t happen. It was a memorable race.
John Jr. and Crew Chief wife Jennifer, make racing a family hobby. Dad
and brother are part of his crew as are good friends Barry Fluckige and
Matt Pozzato. The team has a new car this season and hopes to race every
other weekend.
Many hours are spent on their racecar though John and Jennifer’s 5
children come first. They enjoy family activities such as camping,
fishing and of course racing.
Thirty-two year old Mark is following in the footsteps of Dad and older
brother John. Though he had the best mentors, Mark has learned how to
race the hard way, by getting out there and doing it. Some things just
can’t be taught they need to be experienced. He races weekly and spends
an additional 15 to 25 hours on his car weekly. Wife Chastity is a big
part of his crew as well as his chief supporter.
Racing is in the Lampro family blood. John and Mark’s parents were the
big influence of their racing careers. Both have good racecars and
experienced driving skills. Some wins and great racing action are in
their future. Though they lost their Mom recently they feel she still
watches over them, keeping them safe and off the wall.
