The
2004 racing season offers a new and exciting traveling Modified Racing
Series. This series will be traveling the 15-race schedule between 4 New
England speedways. Two of the scheduled tracks are 1/4 mile tracks,
White Mountain Motorsports Park North Woodstock, New Hampshire and
Monadnock Speedway, Winchester, New Hampshire, and two are 1/3 mile
tracks, Cannan USA Speedway Cannan, New Hampshire and Lee USA Speedway
Lee, New Hampshire. All are asphalt tracks, 2 are high banked and 2 are
semi-high banked tracks.
There are 32 teams registered with this new tour series, some on a
limited schedule.
About half of the teams come from the Claremont Speedway Modified
Series, all are talented drivers. Many of the teams ran Claremont for
years but with the projected changes in that series at that track for
2005, they have chosen to race in the traveling series for 2004. Some of
the cars registered to the series are legal Modified Tour Cars. The
difference is that Claremont Modifieds are 15 to 1 compression while
Modified Tour Cars are 12 to 1.
These open-wheeled race cars put on an action-filled show. Their speeds
go 110 to 120 on the shorter tracks and faster on longer tracks. A
Modified Racing Series Champion will be crowned at season end. The total
point winnings are $25000, of which the crowned Champion will take home
$4000.
Dwight Jarvis races Chevrolet #28 on the
Modified Racing Series. He was Claremont 2003 Modified Champion. Dwight
has also raced on the Modified Tour. His most memorable races were those
where he beat Reggie Ruggiero and Mike McLaughlin, both tour legends and
highly competitive drivers.
He loves racing and is good at it. This veteran driver feels strongly
that this new series is headed in the right direction and will take off
in popularity. Important to him personally is that the 32 series drivers
will have fun racing together.
Car#28 ‘s team is Jeremy Zullo, Luke Hinkley and Charlie Weld out of
Ascutney, Vermont. Dwight’s off-racing profession is in construction and
he enjoys boating and fishing for pleasure.
Twenty-year veteran driver, Peter Daniels
races car #76 on the Modified Racing Series this 2004 season. His prior
six seasons Peter raced Claremont Modifieds, two seasons with Busch
North, eleven in Pro Stocks and three in Strictly Stocks with multi
championships in multiple divisions, to his credit. Peter races once to
twice weekly and spends an additional 30 hours weekly on his racecar.
His most challenging race was the final race of the 2002 season when he
was in contention for the NASCAR National Champion Title needed the win
to lock it up. Peter won the race in the last lap. Enjoyment and thrill
of the competition is what it all about for Peter.
This new Modified Racing Series is sure to make its mark in the racing
industry. The fans and followers are in for a treat of high energy
racing action from experience racing teams with the drive to make this
series successful.
