Bobby
Dragon is driver of the Busch North Series racecar #15. A 38-year
veteran in the race industry, Bobby has raced 17 years on the BNS tour.
He averages 10 to 13 races a season. For 2003, Bobby placed 18th in
points and had thirteen starts. Waste Management, BG Environmental,
A.B.S. Graphics and Bowman Distribution sponsor his green, white and
yellow racecar.
Catamount Stadium, Milton Vermont, (a track gone but not forgotten) is
Bobby’s all-time favorite track though he now has good runs at Nazareth.
The Oxford 250 is his greatest challenge. Bobby never won it but came
real close twice. It is a premier race.
Bobby ‘s racing career began at Catamount, in the Hobby Division, when
he was nineteen. He raced a 1955 Chevrolet Thunderbird. He progressed to
the BNS Tour and has stayed there. Bobby’s success over the years has
kept up his interest in racing. Per Bobby “It’s an ego thing.” He does
enjoy racing but feels it is a rich-mans sport. He would like to see
more cost controls such as in the area of engine specifications.
BNS car #15 has a really great team. Mark Willoughby is owner and Crew
Chief of the Willoughby Motorsports Team. There are eight other team
members, Jim Horne, Jason Horne. Annette Horne, Charlie Dimon, Marcel
Duessault, Bob Forcier, Bob Parker and Dave Ricker. The racecar is a
Chevrolet Monte Carlo with a Dale Shaw chassis and Butler & MacMaster
engine. The team travels the tour to Lee USA, Stafford, Lake Erie, Beech
Ridge, Holland International, Thompson International, New Hampshire
International, Waterford Speedbowl, Seekonk, Watkins Glen, Adirondak
International, Thunder Road, and Lime Rock Speedways.
Bobby Dragon is retired from IBM though he continues to work in
maintenance control. He races a limited schedule. Bobby and his wife,
Veronica, have 2 children, Scott and Danielle. They reside in Milton
Vermont. During his off time, Bobby enjoys hunting and fishing
throughout the USA.
