| The old adage The apple doesnt
fall far from the tree applies to racecar driver Steve Fifield. His Dad, Rod, has
raced at Lebanon Valley Speedway since the 60s. As soon as Steve was old enough
(16), he too got behind the wheel of a racecar at Lebanon Valley. Steve now races Late Model car#70 at Monadnock and Thompson Speedways. He was the 1986 Rookie of the Year at Lebanon Valley and again at Riverside Park Speedway in 1996. For the 2003 racing season, Steve finished 2nd in points at New Hampshires Monadnock Speedway, Late Model Division. He races once weekly. Love of the sport is the reason Steve races. Brian Barnard is the car owner. Steves brother Paul, his Dad and good friend John Diggins are his crew. Steve lives and garages the car in Hatfield, Mass. He is a carpenter by trade and enjoys woodworking as a hobby. Photographer/Journalist: Sheila Somers |
