Twenty seven year old Carey
Heath races car #12 in the Busch North Series. Says Carey "I just love the sport, the
competition and working towards a goal." It
has been alot of hard work for Carey, She has
raced the Busch North for two full years but prior to that she raced Late Models at the
Lee Speedway for 5 years. During those five years Carey won the Most Improved Driver Award
and the Sportsmanship Award, one feature win and 6th in points. Being the positive person she is, also won Carey
the Sportsmanship Award in the Busch North
Series. Carey has had alot
of family support in developing her racing career. Her
Mom and Dad started both her and her brother Jason, in Quarter Midgets at age 6. For ten years they traveled up and down the East
Coast , New York and Ohio. They experienced
much success and had lots of fun during those years of racing Quarter Midgets. Every
racedriver has memories of their most challenging race.
For Carey it was her first feature win at Lee Speedway. During the last ten laps there were 5 restarts,
she was in first and had to hold on. That she
did and won the race. It was a great night. Carey races once a week in the Busch North Series during the regular
season. Racing the car is not all there is to
it. During the off-season she spends 4 week
nights and one weekend day maintaining or fixing the car.
During the season , Carey is in, on or under that car every day. She has a great crew of all volunteers who work
full-time jobs and still give the team about 6 hours each week night plus weekends. Some of the crew has been with them since the
"Late Model" days. Her Dad, John,
is Crew Chief and owner of #12. They
have a unique relationship, work well together and after all these years, usually know
what the other is thinking. They have a great
time. Carey's Mom passed away from kidney
cancer a few years ago but Carey is fortunate to have a wonderful Stepmother, Doria, who
gives 100% support to the race team. Her
brother Jason and his family are at the track often and also supportive of Carey and the
team. Aubuchon Hardware
is primary sponsor of the white/orange/green & black Busch North car. Carey Heath is the delightful young lady that
maneuvers that racecar into just the right spot. |
