| The 2003 season is rookie year for
seventeen-year-old Kevin Riley. He races car # 02 in the Limited Sportsman Division at
Thompson Speedway. Kevin got his start in racing with Go Karts seven years ago. His Dad
brought him to a local track in Pomfret, Ct as a spectator. Watching the sport was
short-lived for Kevin. Dad bought Kevin the Go Kart and gave him his support to go along
with it. Kevin raced Go Karts for 6 years winning 7 Championships. His most challenging race was in that first year of racing, his fourth race ever. Kevin placed 3rd in a National Event in Canada racing against many drivers far more experienced than him. It was wild. Still in High School, Kevin has moved up to the Limited Sportsman Division this season and now races once a week. Both the speed and time with his Dad, is what makes racing fun for Kevin. As for any changes he would like to see take place in the racing industry, Kevin feels there is a need for more and better communication between the drivers and track.. Kevins Dad is car owner, Chris Young Crew Chief, Kenny Czela and Pat Riley are crew members. The car is garaged in Brooklyn, CT. Kevin has a variety of interests outside of racing which includes basketball and hunting. He is also a Nascar fan and collector of Tony Stewart memorabilia. Kevin may just be up there in a division with Tony Stewart one day. Photographer/Journalist: Sheila Somers |
