Gwenn Gaumond

Dare Stock #17 - Stafford Motor Speedway

Young, petite and pretty Gwenn Gaumond races car#17 in the Dare Stock Division at Stafford Speedway in Connecticut. She has been racing in this division for 2 seasons and is a good focused driver.

Gwenn’s Dad, Bob, raced for many years both owning and racing Strictly Stock at Thompson Speedway, SK and Late Models at both Thompson and Stafford Speedways. Her brother, Cliff raced Mini and Strictly Stock at Thompson and Gwenn worked on all of the cars. You can often see her as spotter for one of these cars.

This season of 2003 brought Gwenn her most challenging race. It was in June. She started 19th and finished 7th. Gwenn worked traffic and moved up 12 spots in just 15 laps. She has had one win and came in 7th in the Paradiso Muska Challenge in 2002.

Gwenn has naturally always wanted to race. Being a woman in a male oriented industry makes her feel that she has to prove herself more than a man does. She feels strongly that women can be successful in auto racing. Gwenn would like to see more women on the track, in the pits and in the management structure.

This dynamite female is not without direction. Gwenn is a Veterinary Technician and will soon return to school for her Masters in Pathobiology at University of Connecticut. After that 2-year program, Gwenn plans on attending a 4-year Veterinary School .

Gwenn lives in Woodstock Valley and loves to spend time at the ocean. She also enjoys gardening and (of course) animals.
