| Tall and rugged, Springfield
native Tom O’Sullivan Jr. raced Late Model #16 at Thompson International
Speedway for the 2003 season. This was Tom’s first Late Model racing
season though he is far from being a novice to the racing industry. His
previous racing experience was in Go-Karts. He achieved 4 Championships
in that division, 2 at Shelton Speedway and 2 in Divisional Dirt. It was
a natural progression from Karts to Late Models. The other influencing factor in Tom’s racing career is, that he comes from a racing family with 30 plus years in the industry. Tom got involved at a young age and really enjoyed the sport from the start. His Dad, Tom Sr., would take him to the track every week. It was the greatest being a little kid at the track. Tom’s most challenging race was his first Late Model race and the adjustment to a full-size racecar and track. He races once weekly and spends an additional 25 hours (or whatever it takes) each week. Tom’s brother, Mike races car #08 in the Pro Stock Division. Tom’s Dad, Tom Sr., is a longtime owner, sponsor and crewmember. It is a family thing. Most sports catch Tom’s interest. He specifically enjoys hockey, snowmobiling and karting. Tom is employed at O’Sullivan Welding. Tom is looking for 2004 season sponsors for his back and orange Late Model racecar#16. A car and driver sure to be seen on many victory lanes in the future. Photographer/Journalist: Sheila Somers |
