Auto Racing attracts
people from many different walks of life. It is not all about the drivers. Its also
about the support team, family, crew, sponsors and car owners. The lovely Caroline Gendron
is one of those owners. For the 2003 race season, Caroline is owner of Late Model #1 and
also sponsor of a Modified Division racecar.
This refined lady, generously embellished in gold jewels and long purple fingernails (that
match the lettering on car #1) is in the Stafford Speedway pits every Friday with driver
Rick Dyer. She is an active part of the team for car #1 which also includes Dave Catlin,
Robbie Madore, Dave StAmont and Jerry Gendron.
Caroline first got involved in sponsoring a racecar when she worked at a vinyl shop and
the sponsor for a racecar they were working on dropped out, so, being an avid race fan she
filled in. She has been sponsoring or owning ever since. Why does this lovely petite lady
spend so much of her time and energy at the track? Says Caroline To have fun and to
try and be competitive.
The most challenging race Caroline experienced, as an owner, was the Fall Final in 2000.
They were only 7 or 8 points in front of another racecar, which created a lot of tension.
The one change that Caroline would like to see in the race industry is the return of the
old style tires, Hoosier TD and Commanche.
Caroline is retired and lives in Naugatuck, CT. She enjoys knitting and watching NASCAR
Winston Cup racing. |
